Cette création a été présentée dans le cadre de Limerick Capitale Nationale de la Culture (Irlande) du 5 au 7 septembre 2014, ce spectacle témoigne à la fois de la véritable histoire de Limerick et des légendes de la ville- 230 000 spectateurs.
Voilà un conte vivant auquel nous vous proposons d'assister tout en écartant les enfants et les parents de ce spectacle, tant la terreur, la peine et la tristesse pourraient entraîner chez eux une dépression psychologique digne des plus forts moments de la famine irlandaise de 1845.
Je vous prie donc de ne prêter aucune attention à ce flux d'images incohérentes et cependant réelles, tout enclins que nous sommes à protéger vos esprits délicats et révolutionnaires.
Bref, un jour une grand-mère irlandaise géante tombant du ciel se retrouva à califourchon dans un champ de pommes de terre au beau milieu du comté de Munster.
Les paysans, surpris par son apparition, la logèrent dans la grange de leur propriété et chaque jour la nourrirent, s'occupèrent d'elle le mieux qu'ils purent.
Cependant, au bout d'un certain temps, n'ayant plus les moyens de l'entretenir, ils la déposèrent dans un train en partance pour Limerick.
Pour l’accueillir des hommes édifièrent un mur de lumière fait de phares de voitures comme les étoiles d’une galaxie bien rangée. Sitôt débarquée de la gare, elle fut accueillie par des milliers de personnes venues de tout point de l'Irlande.
Son langage plus incompréhensible que celui des plus anciens gaéliques, on dépêcha au plus vite l'aide d'un traducteur ayant connaissance de ce parler particulier. Par bonheur, son coffre-fort personnel lui aussi tombé du ciel sur une voiture de la ville, contenant la mémoire de Limerick, lui permit de conter les légendes et les histoires des grandes batailles subies au cours des siècles passés et depuis bien longtemps sombrées dans l'oubli. Quelques images çà et là surgies de son passé vinrent encombrer la ville.
Enfin elle s'en ira, debout, vers son propre enterrement pour dormir emportée par le courant du Shannon dispersant ses souvenirs dans les restes du monde; soulevant dans ses bagages la fierté de l'Irlande; essaimant d'innombrables communautés témoignant du courage et de la foi d'un peuple plein d'une incroyable force lancée dans le futur tel un javelot d'argent.
La Grand-mère traversant à nouveau la galaxie attendra le jour où de nouveau, elle retombera dans les pommes de terre du Munster.
